Longest Day!

 It's the longest day of the year,
Which fills me with peace, joy and cheer.
It means school is out,
And I can laze about.
It's a part of teaching I hold dear.

Winter Solstice

This solstice means the longest night.

And the shortest amount of daylight.

It's when Winter starts,

As  you see in the charts.

In the longer days I will delight!

It's part of the year that's the best.

That time when the days are longest.

What causes this thing?

Earth's axial swing.

'Though those in the South might protest.
