Literacy Night

Sometimes I stay at school late.

While it's not the best I don't hate.

We played games for fun,

I supervised one.

Where we practiced synonym names.

Happy New Years!

We had friends and family attend,
Our party celebrating years end.
With games and good food,
And Jello rainbow hued.
A tradition that I recommend.

There's a different one made every day.
In this game your chore
Is to find groups of four.
But some words can lead you astray!

For New Year's Eve we had a plan.

We taught family to play Catan.

This gift was brand new,

'Cause the old one was through.

Of board games I am a big fan.

 

Morning Ice

Not really snowing, freezing rain.

So in our warm house we remain.

We can take a shower,

'Cause we still have power.

We have games to help entertain.

Quarantine Gaming

Our state declared Shelter in Place.

So we're stuck in this same boring space.

Our old games we're playing,

While at home we're staying.

This family time we shall embrace.

 

Basketball

Watching ball is what I like to do,

Lately I have watched quite a few.

Though the games have been great,

I get home real late.

I'll be okay when the season is through.

Extra Life

I'm not looking for lots of applause,

But I played games all day for this cause.

We raised them some dough,

For research, you know.

Let's work to get rid of those blahs.

Alone

My family is spread out tonight.

That I'm home alone suits me alright.

I know it sounds lame,

But I'm playing a game.

Without interruptions. Delight!

Waiting

As the parents who wait for the bus, 

The away games we just want to cuss. 

But it makes it alright 

When this is our sight. 

It's a calming influence on us.

Playing World of Warcraft, constantly.

Now I found it again,

Friday Night Game

Our sports teams both came out to play,

The fans had no cause for dismay.

The girls won in three,

With a good long rally.

And the boys won big on this Friday.

Ticket to Ride

This game started out on a board, 

Now it's use on my iPad has soared.

I can play with a friend, 

We'll play to the end.

No unfinished games are ignored.

Mastermind

Tonight it was like time rewind, 

When my daughter showed me this find. 

Though there's not much plot, 

This game takes some thought. 

It's been years since I played Mastermind. 

Home Games

Our stands are filled with black and red,

The snack shack keeps us all well fed.

The games are a chance,

To friendships enhance.

As we tell our kids to, "knock them dead!"

Mind Boggling

It's a fun game for spelling out words.

Especially for spelling wizards.

Three letters or more,

Will add to your score.

It's not just for literate nerds.

I've been playing this game for awhile,

After choosing to give it a trial.

I have not paid cash

To win in a flash.

'Cause frugality is just my style.

New Release Day!

They just sent out new PS4s.

And my friend got his, not from the stores.

He's up playing late

'Cause he just couldn't wait.

He's racking up a bunch of high scores!

Away game

My kids' away games are a fright.

They're always held out of my sight.

I can't get away

To watch my kids play

I just pick them up late in the night.
